Mercy Johnson, a Nollywood star, and Liz Benson, a social media celebrity, have ignited controversy after the latter claimed that it was unfair for a woman to abandon her husband because of infidelity.
Liz Benson was a guest on Mercy’s Menu, Johnson’s cooking show, and the two shared the following talk about a year ago.
A snippet of their chat, though, has resurfaced and gone viral on social media.
During the show, the two explored a number of subjects relating to family and sexuality, including feminism, infidelity in marriage, and women’s self-sacrifice.
Mercy Johnson then asked Liz Benson whether she should quit her matrimonial home if she accuses her partner, Prince Odi Okojie, of having a side chic.
Liz Benson, in a pessimistic response, claimed that getting out isn’t a smart idea; instead, she should use her inner strength as a woman to focus on the marriage.
“You hear that? Even when I get him doing the wrong thing, we’ll work on it,” Mercy Johnson concluded.
Mercy also questioned as to whether Liz Benson is a feminist, but the older woman confirmed that she is not. They went on to address why women compromise too much in their relationships and if it’s prudent to keep going even though the husband doesn’t appreciate it.
Women were created to be helpmates, according to Liz Benson, and are required to help their husbands, children, and give of themselves for their families, even if their spouses are unappreciative.
She told women to keep sacrificing and expect that her husband would finally respect her.
