“You want to end the boy’s career”- Ghanaians react to Akuffo asking Odoi to play for Ghana.

On social media, some Ghanaians are venting their anger at President Akufo Addo for asking Callum Hodson Odoi to consider switching nationalities in order to play for Ghana.

Despite the fact that Odoi’s father is from Ghana, he was destined to play for the three lions of England, where he grew up, and therefore for Chelsea.

While on vacation in Ghana, the Champions League winner made a courtesy call on the President of Ghana.

“On Monday, 7th June 2021, Ghanaian-born Chelsea footballer, Callum Hudson-Odoi, paid a courtesy call on me at Jubilee House, the seat of our nation’s presidency,” His Excellency Nana Addo said on social media. I requested the Minister of Youth and Sports, among others, to look into the potential of Callum switching nationalities and playing for the Black Stars.

People would not have let this go without retaliating against the President for his appeal.

Some of the remarks claim that the President is simply skilled at posing for photos and losing track of vital issues.

Some even advised Callum Hodson Odoi not to play for Ghana because his career would be cut short, as it had been for others in the past.

Some have also questioned why President Akufo Addo is pushing for Odoi to play for Ghana instead of the local league, where we have equally great players.
