Esther Boadiwaa is in police custody after an investigation showed that she lied to her parents that she was kidnapped when actually she was enjoying with her boyfriend in the Volta Region.
Esther is a student of T I Ahmadiyya Senior High School, and when they vacated for the Christmas she went to visit her boyfriend in the Volta region, to outwit her mother, she lied that she has been kidnapped.
The fake incident happened on December 23 last year and reported to the police on January 6, the Fomena District Police Commander, Supt. Albert Fii Ochil said the Daily Guide newspaper reported.
Police say she has been charged with making a false publication with intent to cause fear and alarm to the public, contrary to section 208 of the Criminal Offences Act (Act 29/60).
Police say Esther made a fake recording to her mom, Akosua Abuyaa, saying 3 men kidnapped her and are taking turns having sex with her with no ransom demands.
When she returned, her mom took her to the police station to report that she is back, and after some interrogations, she confessed that she lied to her mom just to visit her boyfriend in the volta region.
Supt. Ochil said Esther would be put before the court to answer the charge of false alarm.
