The Konongo Zongo community was filled with excitement when Black Sherif was announced as the ‘Artiste of the Year’ at the 2023 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards. Before the awards, many people in the town gathered together to watch the event and cheer on their local artist.
When Black Sherif was announced as the winner, the people of Konongo erupted in celebration. One man shouted, “We have won a VGMA!”
The community’s joy shows how much they appreciate Black Sherif and the attention he has brought to their town, including his song titled Konongo Zongo.
Black Sherif, also known as Blacko, beat out tough competition from artists like Stonebwoy, Sarkodie, and King Promise to win the Artiste of the Year award. Piesie Esther was seen as his biggest threat, but Black Sherif’s talent and hard work paid off in the end.
