The headteacher of St. Peters SHS has confirmed unequivocally that no student with bushy eyebrows, let alone students with dreadlocks, will be admitted.
The rejection of two Rastafarian students by Achimota School as a result of their decision to attend school with their dreadlocks.
The students have been informed by the GES that they must shave their locks in order to be accepted to the Achimota college.
According to some outlets, the headteacher of St. Peters has also set up a barbering salon to ensure that students’ non-approved hairstyles “are turned into clean-shaven student haircuts” as a result of the incident.
While some people believe the headmaster’s action is positive, others, including some former students, believe it violates the students’ basic human rights.
They demanded that school officials welcome students to the school regardless of their hairstyles.
