Land Minister escapes death after Heavy Kia with stolen Timber struck his car

The land Minister of Ghana, Mr Kwaku Asomah Kyeremeh has done an act of heroics after he personally spotted a heavy truck car loader with rare rose Timber from Dormaa to Yeji in the Bono East region.

The minister chased down the car ordering it to stop but the driver refused.

The heavy truck had a registration number, ‘AS 4955E’ and since the time of filing this report, the Driver has been arrested, after he smashed the heavy load vehicle into the car of the minister.

Addressing the press, the minister, Kwaku Asomah Cheremeh said when the driver was arrested, they suspected that there was something fishy with the documents covering the Timber. Carefully examining the documents, it was realized that the amount paid in VAT was higher than the actual cost of the timber, which further raised their suspicion and therefore referred the case to the appropriate authorities for further investigations.

The minister disclosed that the criminals have developed a way of transporting the Timber after it was banned and for that matter law enforcers are also on a high alert.

He said they have arrested several people who transport timber by road.

He also addressed what some people on social media are saying, they claimed he wanted money from the Driver which he refused to pay causing the arrest.

The minister said those reports are false and that people should not give much attention to it.
