I Was Paid GH₵50 For My First Role – Emelia Brobbey details the begining of her career.

Actress cum singer Emelia Brobbey thrown light at her struggles when she first made entrance into the movie industry. according to the actress, she was exploited but paid menial amounts.

Speaking on the day break show with Andy Dosty, the ‘Fa Me Ko’ singer revealed that she was paid an amount of GH₵ 50.00 upon acting her debut movie dubbed Tribal wars in the year 2003.

According to Emelia Brobbey, thought the pay wasn’t enough, she was not in for the money but the joy since acting had been her dream career since infancy.

“it was 50 Cedis. They also gave me a copy of the movie… it was a cassette then not a CD and the money was kept in an envelope…I run home to go and watch myself,” she said after beign quizzed by Andy.

On how she got introduce in to the movie industry, the sensational actress revealed that she was fortunate to meet some top kumawood stars at the funeral of the late veteran actor, Santo.

These Kumawood stars generously hinted her about an ongoing audition in kumasi and after partaking, she emerged one of the hundreds to be recruited.

“When Santo died, some of the actors came to my house. I remember Miracle Films, Nana Ama McBrown and Daniel Adeleye… He told me to come to Kumasi for my first audition at cultural center and it got me a role and in 2003,” Emelia Brobbey narrated.
