In an international news portal describing Ghana as “the world’s poorest people,” Ghanaians have collectively expressed crazy rage.
The British free-to-air tv news channel SKY NEWS used these words in the title of a news story.
After the free delivery of the 600,000 doses of COVAX under the World Health Organisation scheme, Sky News decided to view Ghana as the poorest people in the world.
Ghana is the first African country to acquire these vaccines as the battle against the dangerous COVID-19 proceeds to vaccinate 20 percent of the population.
The wrath of Ghanaians and Africans around the globe was inflicted by Sky News after they described Ghana by writing:
“the flight carrying 600,000 doses of the AstraZeneca coronavirus vaccine has arrived in Ghana as part of a global effort to immunize the world’s poorest people”
This caption simply illustrates how most of the nations on this continent regard most of these international bodies and forums.
Given that Ghana was unable to buy these vaccines and had to rely on the WHO to get the first batch free of charge, it has become easy for SKY NEWS to identify Ghana as the poorest people in the country.
That’s not the first time Africans have described in such insulting, humiliating, and outright senseless words.
