As initially reported by Pat Ragazzo of Inside the Mets, the Yankees will send right-handed pitcher Clayton Beeter to the Los Angeles Dodgers in exchange for the outfielder Joey Gallo, who will be joining the Dodgers organization.

Multiple sources confirmed the trade, making it official and allowing Gallo to officially make the switch from wearing the Yankee pinstripes to the Dodger blue.

After just over a year with the Yankees, Gallo will return to the Rangers to begin the 2021 season. Prior to joining the Yankees, Gallo enjoyed an All-Star level of success during his time with the Rangers. The left-handed slugger, who is 28 years old and was acquired by New York in a trade in July, was subjected to significant expectations upon his arrival, but he was never quite able to live up to the billing.

Gallo played for the Yankees for 140 games and had a batting line of.159/.282/.339 with 25 home runs and 194 strikeouts.

Gallo will be hoping for a clean slate with the first-place Dodgers, who have the best record in the National League (NL) at 69–33 as of Tuesday. According to Jon Heyman of the New York Post, as part of the transaction, Los Angeles will be responsible for paying the remaining portion of Gallo’s contract for the year 2022.

According to FanGraphs, the former second-round pick and current 15th-ranked player in the Dodgers’ farm system will be sent to the New York Yankees as part of the trade that would send the veteran slugger to Los Angeles. This season, the 23-year-old has hurled 51.2 innings and made 18 appearances at the Double-A level, compiling a record of 5.75 earned runs allowed and 88 strikeouts.
