According to MLB Network’s Jon Heyman, Pujols signed a one-year contract with St. Louis worth a base salary of $2.5 million. According to reports, the contract also contains additional incentives for regular-season and postseason awards.

According to Spotrac, Pujols is expected to finish his career with an estimated $341.71 million in earnings over the course of 22 seasons based on that figure.

Pujols earned a total of $114.42 million over the course of his first 11 years with the Cardinals.

In 2012, he inked a huge contract with the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, which would have paid him $224.36 million over the course of nine seasons. He earned $426,313 while playing for the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2021.

Pujols was ranked by Business Insider as the second-highest-paid player in MLB history in 2020, just behind Alex Rodriguez.

After winning his first of three NL MVP awards in 2005, he quickly developed into a superstar after being named the 2001 National League Rookie of the Year. In 2006 and 2011, Pujols led the Cardinals to two World Series victories.
