20 separatist fighters of western Togoland Arrested by Ghana Soldiers

80-year-old Charles Komi Kudzordzi led a group to declare the volta region as well as parts of the Nothern and Upper east region independent from Ghana.

They called themselves western Togoland.

The Government has led a fight against this separatist since November last year.

The latest report against this fight with the separatist is that soldiers have arrested 20 members of the group, 19 males and 1 female.

Charles Komi Kudzordzi was arrested earlier in May 2019 together with some 80 others when they were just planning to announce their independence.

Nine of them were later charged with conspiracy to commit treason felony, abetment of unlawful training, unlawful assembly and offensive conduct conducive to the breach of peace and put before the court.

The Attorney General, however, in July discontinued the case based on which the High Court trying them discharged the accused persons.

Charles Komi Kudzordzi has been on the run since the charges against him were dropped.
